Your Trusted Companion for Medication Tapering

Medication Taper App helps you safely follow your doctor-prescribed plan to taper off medications, providing support and tracking throughout your journey.

What Inspired this Medication Taper App

The Medication Taper App was born from a deeply personal experience. As a support person for someone going through benzodiazepine withdrawal, I witnessed firsthand the challenges of tapering off prescription medication. I realized there was a critical need for a tool to help people navigate this difficult journey.

Did you know that approximately 10% of the US population - that's about 33 million people - are on some form of anxiety medication? Many of these individuals are not addicts, but rather people who followed their doctor's prescriptions and unknowingly developed a physical dependency.

Our goal is to support these individuals and their loved ones through the tapering process, which can often take months or even years. We believe in empowering people with the tools they need to regain control of their health and their lives.

Important Considerations

  • Benzodiazepines are used to treat anxiety, insomnia, seizures, social phobia, and panic disorder.
  • They're also used as premedication before some medical procedures.
  • Prescribers must consider risks of misuse, abuse, addiction, and physical dependence.
  • Patients can experience withdrawal symptoms even when prescribed for therapeutic use.
  • Benzodiazepine prescribing has been trending down since 2016, but usage remains widespread.
